1. Introduction and Scope
Valet Technologies, LLC ("VALET," "we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose and safeguard your information when you:
- visit our website www.valet-us.com (the "Website");
- use the VALET rider app (the "Rider App") to request a ride in which one driver drives your vehicle and a second driver follows; or
- use the VALET driver app (the "Driver App") to apply as, and work as, a driver. The Rider App and Driver App together are the "Apps."
The Website, the Apps and the services we provide through them are the "Services." VALET currently operates in the United States only.
2. Information We Collect
Information everyone provides
- First name and email address (when you join the beta program or waitlist)
- Phone number (optional on the Website; required to create an account in the Apps)
- How you heard about us (referral source)
- Messages you send us through the Website forms or the in-app message form, including your name, contact details and the message itself
- Feedback and correspondence sent to us
Riders (Rider App)
- Account details: your name and phone number, which we verify by sending a one-time code by SMS; an email address, which is optional.
- Saved details you choose to add: your home address, your vehicle (make, model, color and license plate) and a profile photo.
- Trip information: pickup and drop-off locations, request and trip times, route, fare, tip, trip status, the names of the two drivers assigned to your trip, and ratings and feedback you give.
- Payment information: your card or digital wallet details are collected and processed by Stripe. We do not receive or store your full card number; we keep a Stripe customer reference and the card brand and last four digits so you can choose a saved card.
Drivers (Driver App)
- Application and identity details: full name, email, phone number, date of birth, home address, driver's license number and expiry date, and an emergency contact (name, phone number and relationship).
- Documents you upload (photos): driver's license (front and back), insurance card, vehicle registration and safety inspection.
- Vehicle details: make, model, color and license plate of the car you drive.
- Background and driving-record screening: where you give your consent in the application, we may obtain a background check and driving record through a screening provider, and we keep the consent and result.
- Work records: trips you complete, partner pairings, earnings, tips, ratings, and issue reports you submit after a trip.
Information collected automatically
- IP address, browser and device type, operating system and app version
- Pages viewed, time spent on pages and referring website addresses (Website)
- Approximate location derived from your IP address (Website)
- Crash reports and diagnostic data from the Apps (device model, operating system version, app version and what the app was doing when it failed)
- A push notification token for your device so we can send trip updates; we keep at most five devices per account
- Records of sign-in activity on your account, used for security and fraud prevention
- Other standard web and app log information
3. Location Information
Location is central to how VALET works, so we explain it separately. We collect precise location (GPS) from the Apps only for the purposes below.
Riders
- While the Rider App is open, to set your pickup point, show nearby drivers and calculate the route and fare.
- When your two drivers are within about half a mile of your pickup, your live location is shared with those two drivers, and only them, so they can find you. This sharing stops when you are picked up, and the shared location is then deleted from the trip.
Drivers
- While you are online and available for trips, your location is recorded about every two minutes, including while the app is in the background, so we can match you with riders and a partner driver.
- During an active trip your location is recorded every few seconds, including in the background, and is shown to the rider and your partner driver. On Android a persistent notification shows while this is running. Tracking stops when you go offline and when the trip ends.
You control location access through your device settings. Without it the Apps cannot request or complete a ride. We use precise location only to provide the Services, for safety, and to detect fraud, and we do not use it for advertising.
4. How We Use Your Information
- Create and secure your account and verify your phone number
- Match riders with drivers, dispatch the two drivers, and show live trip progress and arrival times
- Calculate fares, process payments and tips, and pay drivers
- Let you and your assigned drivers contact each other for a trip
- Review and approve driver applications and confirm drivers are eligible to drive
- Send trip updates, receipts and other service notifications by push notification, SMS and email
- Respond to your inquiries and provide customer support
- Communicate about our beta program and launch, and send marketing communications (with your consent)
- Keep riders, drivers and the public safe; investigate incidents and disputes
- Detect and prevent fraud, abuse and security incidents
- Fix crashes, analyze usage and improve the Services
- Comply with legal obligations and enforce our agreements
5. Information Sharing and Disclosure
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only as described here.
With the drivers on your trip
A rider's assigned drivers see the rider's name, pickup and drop-off, vehicle details, phone contact for the trip and, near pickup, live location. A rider sees the names, contact details, ratings and live location of the two drivers assigned to the trip. The two drivers on a trip also share trip details with each other. This sharing is limited to the active trip and removed when the trip ends.
Service providers
These companies process information on our behalf:
- Google Firebase and Google Cloud: account sign-in and SMS verification, database, file storage for photos and documents, push notifications, app integrity checks and crash reporting
- Google Maps Platform: maps, address search, geocoding and routing. Locations and addresses are sent to Google to return results.
- Stripe: payment processing, card and digital wallet (Apple Pay and Google Pay) payments, refunds and driver payouts
- Resend: delivery of email, including replies to messages you send us
- Screening providers: driver background and driving-record checks, with the driver's consent
- Web hosting, analytics (Google Analytics, on the Website only), email marketing and CRM platforms
Business transfers
If we are involved in a merger, acquisition or asset sale, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction.
Legal requirements and safety
We may disclose information when required by law, court order or government request, or to protect the rights, property or safety of VALET, our users or others, including with law enforcement and insurers after an incident.
6. No Sale, No Advertising Tracking
We do not sell personal information and do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. The Apps contain no third-party advertising and do not track you across other companies' apps or websites. Website analytics and marketing cookies are described in Section 12.
7. Device Permissions
The Apps ask for the following permissions. Each can be turned off in your device settings.
- Location: described in Section 3. Drivers are also asked for background location so trips keep working when the app is not on screen.
- Camera and photos: to take or choose a profile photo and, for drivers, to photograph application documents. We access only the photos you pick.
- Notifications: trip updates, driver arrival and account messages.
- Phone: tapping a call button opens your phone's dialer to call your driver, rider or partner. VALET does not record calls.
8. Data Retention
We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes in this policy and to meet legal, tax, safety and fraud-prevention obligations. Our standard periods are:
- Trip and location history: 1 year
- Payment and financial records: 7 years
- Customer support records and messages: 2 years
- Account and profile data: while your account is active; deleted when you delete your account, subject to Section 9
- Website sign-up and contact information: until you ask us to delete it or unsubscribe
9. Deleting Your Account
You can delete your account at any time:
- In the app: Account, then Settings, then Delete Account.
- On the web: submit a request at www.valet-us.com/account-deletion, or email privacy@valet-us.com from the phone number or email on your account.
When your account is deleted we remove your profile, saved cards and Stripe customer, driver application and documents, partner pairings, driver feedback and waitlist entries. We keep trip and payment records because they are financial and legal records, but we remove your name and contact details from them so they no longer identify you. Information we must keep by law, or to resolve a dispute or prevent fraud, is kept only for the period required.
10. Data Security
We use technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including:
- Encryption of data in transit (SSL/TLS) and encrypted storage with our cloud providers
- Role-based access controls, so drivers, riders and staff see only the data they need
- App integrity checks and verified phone sign-in
- Payment details handled by Stripe, a PCI-DSS Level 1 provider, and never stored on our servers
- Regular security updates and monitoring
No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. If a breach affects your information we will notify you as required by law.
11. Your Rights and Choices
You have the right to:
- Access the personal information we have about you and receive a copy
- Correct or update inaccurate information (most details can be edited in the app)

15. International Visitors
The Services are operated in the United States. If you use them from outside the United States, your information may be transferred to, stored and processed in the United States, where our servers and cloud providers operate.

- The right to know what personal information we collect, use and disclose

17. Do Not Track Signals
Our Website does not currently respond to Do Not Track (DNT) signals. However, you can control tracking through your browser settings and cookie preferences. The Apps do not track you across other companies' apps or websites.
18. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the new policy on this page, update the "Effective Date" above and, for material changes, notify you in the Apps or by email. Your continued use of the Services after changes indicates acceptance of the updated policy.
